System description


Ultrafiltration is a process used for the removal of organics, bacteria, viruses and pyrogens from the water. There are different kind of Ultrafiltration membranes with different Membrane cut off (from 10,000 to 80,000 Dalton).

The Ultrafiltration membrane 80,000 Dalton can be install in the pretreatment section instead of media filtration.

Pharmaceutical polishing UF are installed as final polishing step, typical membrane cut-off is 10,000 DA with a pore size of 0,001 um pore size.

The system configuration is:

Pretreatment – Reverse Osmosis – Elettrodeionization – Ultrafiltration

Sanitization

ELETTRACQUA Reverse osmosis + Elettrodeionization + Ultrafiltration sanitization options are:

  • Chemical sanitization
  • Hot water sanitization
  • LDI+UF) is a production system for the production of Highly Purified Water meeting EU pharmacopoeia requirements.

 

Hot water sanitization

Elettracqua high temperature RO + ELD + UF are sanitized with hot water (> 80°C), having several advantages than chemical sanitization:

  • Sanitization process fully automatic managed by PLC with continuous monitoring of sanitization temperatures
  • Simplified validation of the thermal process
  • Reliable process
  • No need to prove the chemical rinse out
